Quality Improvement Coordinator

The Quality Improvement Coordinator is responsible for the development and direction of NOVA Treatment Community’s Quality Improvement Program to determine the effectiveness, efficiency, satisfaction and accessibility of services provided.  In addition, the QI Coordinator acts as the Corporate Compliance Officer and oversees NOVA TC’s Corporate Compliance Program that is in place to ensure organizational and employee conformance with applicable laws, regulations, NOVA TC’s Policy and Procedures and Code of Ethics.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Bachelor’s Degree in counseling, social work, or psychology preferred.
  • Ability to research and interpret regulations and guidance related to Behavioral Health Programs.
  • Ability to learn and research national accreditation standards for Behavioral Health programs.
  • Ability to function in a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to learn agency policy and procedures to be completed during the probationary period and annually thereafter.
  • Ability to complete and maintain accurate agency records in a complete and confidential manner.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, program members and community agencies.
  • Ability to prioritize work, multi-task and utilize individual and team oriented problem solving skills.

Major Responsibilities

  • Coordinate NOVA TC’s Quality Improvement Program.
  • Assist the Management Team with quality improvement functions by identifying performance measures, criteria and benchmarks; assist in the development of action plans to meet stated goals; and track the progress of actions plans and quality improvement projects.
  • Conduct a quantitative review of clinical records on a monthly and quarterly basis.  Compile data, disseminate findings to the appropriate parties
  • Assist the financial services department with reviewing billing records on a monthly basis to ensure accuracy of submissions and returns of overpayments.  Compile data, disseminate findings and make recommendations to the appropriate parties.
  • Design systems and forms for data collection.
  • Collect and submit QI and outcomes data to Region 6 Behavioral Healthcare and the state of Nebraska as required on a quarterly basis.
  • Administer or direct the administration of satisfaction questionnaires for program members and other stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain policy and procedures for the general operation of the Compliance Program and related activities to prevent illegal, unethical, or improper conduct.  Assist the CHRO in ensuring all of NOVA TC’s policy and procedures are reviewed and updated as needed annually, at a minimum.
  • Develop and review standards of conduct and other compliance requirements to assist management with ongoing training and performance issues.
  • Act as independent reviewer to ensure that compliance issues/concerns, including complaints and grievances within NOVA TC are being appropriately evaluated, investigated, documented and resolved.
  • Identify potential areas of compliance vulnerability and risk: develop and implement corrective action plans for resolution of problematic issues, and provides guidance on how to avoid or deal with similar situations in the future.  Chair Compliance Oversight Committee on a monthly basis for this purpose.
  • Prepare and present quarterly and annual reports to the Management Team and Board of Directors regarding NOVA TC’s QI and Compliance programs.
  • Act as one of NOVA TC’s Privacy Officers to ensure compliance with Federal Confidentiality Regulations found at 42 C.F.R. Part 2 and HIPAA.
  • Assist in ensuring CARF accreditation standards are met on an ongoing basis.
