What You Will Do

The overall purpose of this job is to provide recreation therapy to residents.The primary responsibilities of this job include assessing for resident leisure interests, abilities and skills, life history, planning adaptations and support techniques to help residents achieve their recreation, leisure, and social engagement needs, implementation of therapeutic programming, and documentation and evaluation of services provided. This position is also responsible for communicating with residents family members and coordinating special events with other departments.

Skills & Requirements

Bachelors degree in Recreation Therapy or related field. Equivalent years of experience may substitute for education requirement.

Two (2) years experience as a Therapeutic Recreation Specialist for Full Time positions

Experience in therapeutic recreation in an internship, field experience, volunteering, and or work with older adults or special needs populations for Part Time Positions

Additional experience in therapeutic recreation within a skilled nursing facility.

Completion of Nebraska-certified Activity Coordinator course or certified therapeutic recreation specialist within 6 months of hire.

Equivalent years of education may substitute for experience requirement.
