Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position managing post-neuro and trauma patients, requiring at least two years of neuro and stroke experience and an active IA or compact RN license.

• Work in a 25-bed Med/Surg Tele unit
• Patient population includes post-TNK, ortho, crani-neurosurgery, laminectomies, and polytrauma cases
• Nurse-to-patient ratios range from 1:5 to 1:6
• Required to float across other med/surg units as needed
• Handles drips and titrations including heparin gtts, PCAs, and 3% sodium
• Utilizes lift equipment, telemetry, chest tubes, and Airvo devices
• Epic EMR experience required
• May be required to float to other med/surg units based on staffing needs
• Must be comfortable with post-neuro and trauma patient management
• Travelers are required to work 2 of 3 major winter holidays (Christmas, New Year's, or Thanksgiving)
• Only one day off may be requested between 11/26-11/30 and 12/23-1/2 regardless of holidays worked
• First-time travelers will not be considered for this position

• Active IA or compact RN license required
• Current BLS (AHA) and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years recent Med Surg experience handling neuro and stroke patients required
• Experience with tele strip reading, drips, titrations, IV administration, and specified equipment required
• Epic EMR experience required
• Must have completed at least one prior travel contract within the previous 12 months
• De-escalation certificate may be required
• At least one supervisory reference from within the past two years required
